WHAT TO PACK FOR THE 2025 DRAGON RIDE | YOUR ESSENTIAL KIT LIST

The 2025 Dragon Ride is just around the corner – are you ready to conquer the climbs?

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or taking on your first big sportive, preparation is everything. Use this essential packing checklist to make sure you’re fully equipped for an epic day in the saddle.

✉️ YOUR EVENT PACK

Your event pack is your passport to the Dragon Ride and includes your:

  • Bib number
  • Timing chip
  • Bike card
  • Bike stickers

You’ll need these items to take part so it’s extremely important you bring them with you.

🍌 NUTRITION & HYDRATION

Start your sportive right by making sure you bring the right sustenance. We recommend 2 full drinks bottles and your preferred energy snacks or gels.

There will be fully stocked feed stations along the route which you can find the latest details for on the 2025 Rider Info Hub.

Our Official Sports Nutrition Partner, HIGH5, will be based at all the feed stations providing Energy Gel Aqua, Energy Bars and ZERO Electrolyte Tablets as a supplement to your own provisions.

👕 WEATHER READY CLOTHING

Welsh weather can be unpredictable, so make sure you pack kit for all conditions, including layers and waterproofs.

Our official merchandise partner Santini will also be onsite with premium cycling gear.

🔧 BIKE REPAIR KIT ESSENTIALS

Don’t get caught out by a puncture or loose bolt. Make sure you bring a bike repair kit stocked with:

  • Spare inner tube
  • Mini pump or CO₂ inflator
  • Puncture repair kit
  • Multitool
  • Tyre levers
  • Spare chain links

Support is available at every feed station from On Your Bike (link out to on your bike?), but having your own tools can get you back in the saddle faster.

💡 BIKE LIGHTS & REFLECTORS

Even if you’re riding in daylight, it’s a good idea to fit your bike with front and rear lights or reflectors for visibility, especially if you’re arriving back to the event village late in the day.

💷 SOME CASH

Some on-site vendors may only accept cash, and there are no cash points on site, so it’s worth having some coins and notes just in case.

🚴 DON’T FORGET THE ESSENTIALS

It might sound obvious, but make sure that you check your bike is in good working condition and you’ve packed your helmet. This is compulsory for all riders, and you won’t be able to take part without it.

Ready to Ride? Preparation is half the battle. Tick off this list, pack smart, and get ready to conquer the epic climbs of South Wales.
