Dragon Ride 2020 Cancelled FAQs

Following the unfortunate cancellation of the 2020 Dragon Ride we contacted all riders; however we realise you might have some additional questions. We have put together this page of the most common here:

How do I defer my entry to Dragon Ride 2021?

From our survey results we are expecting thousands of entries to defer to next year, so we have decided to make 2021 a ballot entry as we also know there are thousands of new riders who want to take on the challenge of slaying the Dragon every year.

However, we are offering all 2020 entrants a guaranteed entry through a ballot bypass.

We don’t need you to take any action to take this option. After the 12th April our team will transfer all your details across to the event next year. If you don’t want to take part next year you need to choose one of the options below before this time.

During May you will receive an email confirming the transfer to 2021 has been completed.

What if I’d like to defer my entry and change my distance for 2021?

This will have to be done manually once we have confirmed your entry for 2021 (you will receive an email to let you know the transfer has been completed in May). Log in to your account and follow the instructions to amend your entry. You will have to pay the difference and any refunds will be subject to an admin fee.

If you want to change your distance you will need to action this by the end of August 2020.

I would like to get a credit note for next season please

That’s great! You will need to let us know by Sunday 12th April 2020 to take this option.

We will send you a code that can be used with any Human Race event next season. This voucher will be your entry fee minus £10.  Please note that your original booking fee is not refundable / transferable as laid out in our standard terms and conditions. This £10 fee will cover some, but ultimately not all, of the fixed costs incurred in planning the original event as well as admin fees charged to us for this action.

Our calendar for 2021 is still TBC, however, to give you an idea of the events you would be able to use this on, traditionally each year we organise the Tour de Yorkshire RideDragon Ride and L’Etape UK.

I’d like to transfer/gift my entry to a friend

You must complete this action by  Sunday 12th April 2020. All substitutions must be done online, and a £10 fee will be charged as per our normal transfer process. This £10 fee will cover some, but ultimately not all, of the fixed costs incurred in planning the original event as well as admin fees charged to us for this action. For more information click here.

To access your account, follow this link or copy and paste it into your browser mydashboard.timeto.com. Once logged in, scroll to find the Dragon Ride event and select ‘Transfer Registration’. You will then be required to input the new participants email address. Once you select to transfer your entry to another person, they will receive an email to accept the transfer. The new participant needs to complete the registration process, including payment. This payment will also include any price increases to event entry. Once this has been completed, the original participant will receive the refund, less the £10 fee.

I can’t attend Dragon Ride 2021, can I donate my entry fee to Macmillan?

If you are not able to join us in 2021, and are therefore cancelling your place, you may select to donate your entry fee minus administration cost to our charity partner, Macmillan. Please click here and select the donation option.

Can I get a refund?

If you are unable to attend Dragon Ride 2021 or take up the credit then in light of the extraordinary circumstances, as per our terms and conditions in our contract we will be offering refunds minus a small £5 admin fee. Please note your original booking fee charged by Active is non-refundable, as outlined in our Terms and Conditions. The average booking fee cost was around £5 per person, this, plus the admin fee = an average of £10 per person.

The £5 fee covers some, but ultimately not all of, a fee charged to us to refund, some unrecoverable event costs and staff time.

As this is a manual process we will need to be notified about your refund by Sunday 12th April 2020.

What if I was taking part for Macmillan?

If you had taken a charity entry, or had chosen to fundraise for Macmillan, please follow the above guidelines for next steps of your entry. Macmillan will be in touch with more information for their fundraisers who have confirmed they are taking part in 2021 in due course. 

I booked camping, what is happening?
We will refund the entirety of what you paid for camping. You do not need to take action on this, your refund will be processed by 10th May in line with our entry fee refunds. At this current time, we are unable to confirm whether camping will be an option for 2021, but if it does become available for 2021 we will email you to let you know and you will be able to add it to your 2021 experience.
I booked the Dragon Tour, how did you work out what my refund is?

Unfortunately, as we are unable to confirm whether Dragon Tour 2021 will be happening we have decided to refund you the difference between your Dragon Tour entry and what the cost of the Dragon Ride distance you selected is, below is a table that lays this out – you would have paid different amounts at different times of the year.

If you wish to not do the 2021 Dragon Ride, you will need to still ask for a refund as per the instructions in the above corresponding section.










I purchased a premium entry type for either Dragon Ride or Dragon Tour, what happens to my stuff?

Any packages you purchased for the 2020 Dragon Ride, will be rolled over to the new 2021 event. If you want to be refunded, each part of your bundle has a different process, see below for the process for each item.

You have a 14 day window from receipt of your goods within which you can return your product to us for a full refund.

If you have not yet received your jerseys, please contact Scimitar Sports at humanrace@scimitarsports.com to confirm you would like to cancel your order by 17th April, otherwise your order will be processed as normal.

Personalised Medal from iTab

Your iTAB medal personalisation will be transferable to the rescheduled event, any other event run by us or any other event worldwide.  For further information contact info@mysportingtimes.com.

What if I have booked accommodation or transport?

Sadly, any bookings for services not listed as part of the event are not covered by our refunds policy. You will have to investigate what options are available directly with that service provider.

I have purchased Registration Protection. How do I claim my refund?

If you have purchased Registration Protection from Booking Protect during your registration for the Dragon Ride you are able to claim back a refund if your circumstances are covered. Booking Protect are a third party company, please direct all claims and queries to them using the below link.
